Keep Preaching

There was a preacher who lived in a large population not too unlike where you live today. Yet he preached. After decades it seemed like his preaching wasn’t making a difference. Yet he preached. In the end, only his immediate family was saved. Yet he preached.
“…but saved Noah, one of eight people, a preacher of righteousness, bringing in the flood on the world of the ungodly
2 Peter 2:5
Noah was a “preacher of righteousness”, yet we don’t have a single sermon of his preserved. And Scripture also frequently highlights that ultimately only eight people (all his immediate family) were saved. How would you weigh the success of Noah’s preaching?
The World in Which Noah Lived…
“Then the Lord saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every intent of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually…”
Genesis 6:5-7
When we grow frustrated with the sinful world in which we live, remember the example of Noah. The world is never too sinful for preaching. It is precisely what it needs!
Noah’s Message…
“…Noah, one of eight people, a preacher of righteousness…” 2 Peter 2:5
We don’t know exactly what Noah may have said or done, but a sinful world needs to hear and see the need for undiluted and uncompromised righteousness.
Noah’s Success
“Then the Lord said to Noah, ‘Come into the ark, you and all your household, because I have seen that you are righteous before Me in this generation”
Genesis 7:1
Noah did the will of God. Success! Noah preached to a sinful world. Success! Noah was saved. Success! Noah’s family was saved. Success! Trusting God and doing the will of God to the best of our ability is the true measure of success. Others may or may not join in serving the Lord – that is THEIR failure. We need to do all to be personally righteous and preach it to all we can. dd
