Quitters Day

Did you quit on January 10th? That was National Quitters Day. Well, it’s not exactly an official holiday, but the second Friday in January is when researchers have found that most people abandon their New Years resolutions. So, it is back to the ice cream, chocolate, and sodas. It is stopping eating right, going to the gym, and assembling regularly with a church. It was a good start, but short-lived.

What did you think you’d do differently in 2025? Did you plan to do some spiritual things differently? Did you start yet? Did you start and already quit? Are you tempted to quit?

Let’s just say it: Doing new things is hard. Changing old habits is hard. Keeping going is hard. Commitments is hard. Endurance is hard.

Let’s also say: Christians do hard things. Jesus did hard things for us, so we’re willing to do hard things for Him. And it’s worth it. The reward is far greater than any sacrifice we make or hard thing we do in this life.

“Therefore we do not lose heart. Even though our outward man is perishing, yet the inward man is being renewed day by day. For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, is working for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory, while we do not look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen are temporary, but the things which are not seen are eternal.” 2 Corinthians 4:16-18
Don’t quit when spiritual things are hard
“Yet indeed I also count all things loss for the excellence of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them as rubbish, that I may gain Christ and be found in Him, not having my own righteousness, which is from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness which is from God by faith; that I may know Him and the power of His resurrection, and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death,  if, by any means, I may attain to the resurrection from the dead.” Philippians 3:8-11
Don’t quit when spiritual things require sacrificing physical things
“For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us” Romans 8:18

Don’t quit, it will be worth it!
