While He May Be Found

It’s hard not to procrastinate. We always tend to think that we’ll have more time, another opportunity, or one more chance. But Isaiah’s words are sobering:

“Seek the Lord while He may be found, call upon Him while He is near.”
Isaiah 55:6

Is it really possible to get too far from God that we can’t find Him? Yes. Here are some ways that it can happen…

We become hard-hearted. In 1 Corinthians 2:14, Paul warns that some people cannot know the things of the Spirit “because they are spiritually discerned” and they are only physically minded. Jesus quoted Isaiah on this:

“Hearing you will hear and shall not understand, and seeing you will see and not perceive; for the hearts of this people have grown dull. Their ears are hard of hearing, and their eyes they have closed, lest they should see with their eyes, lest they should understand with their hearts and turn, so that I should heal them.” Matthew 13:14-15

We lose interest. When we feel there are many things to accomplish in life before serving God it is easy for spiritual things to become unimportant and eventually forgotten. The writer of Ecclesiastes warns of this:

“Remember now your Creator in the days of your youth, before the difficult days come, and the years draw near when you say, ‘I have no pleasure in them.’” Ecclesiastes 12:1

We may die. It’s been said that people plan to turn to God at 11:55 PM in their life but may die at 10:30 PM. Young or old, we don’t know when we will die. Life is uncertain and after death it will be too late.

“…it is appointed for men to die once, but after this the judgment.” Hebrews 9:27

Jesus may come again at any time. We don’t know when Jesus will return, and when He does, it will be a time of resurrection, judgment, and reward – not repentance and obedience. The time for faith, repentance, obedience, and salvation is now!

“…Behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.” 2 Corinthians 6:2

Seek the Lord while He may be found. Do it now. Don’t put it off!   dd
